Dear all,
We would like to remind you that starting with Shellter Elite v12, our DRM system will require an active internet connection for the software to operate.
This decision became unavoidable after a careless customer leaked a copy of our software.1 Their actions forced us into a difficult position, having to justify why tools like ours are necessary in the first place. It also created a significant amount of additional work as we dealt with the fallout, ultimately delaying progress on new features we were actively developing at the time.
Considering all the above, we had no option but to reinforce our DRM so we can actively manage licenses and disable any copy found to be used for malicious purposes. When such action is taken, it will cease to function, effectively preventing any further misuse of our software.
We fully acknowledge and respect the curiosity that drives many of us in this field. However, please note that any unauthorized attempts to interfere with, bypass, or tamper with our online DRM systems will result in account deactivation. If your organization manages multiple accounts, all of them may be affected while an investigation is underway.
We are committed to safeguarding our work and your investment from malicious actors seeking to misuse our software, and we will take all necessary measures, to reduce the impact of any unauthorized activity.
We appreciate your understanding and we look forward to sharing the new version of our software with you.
— The Shellter Project Team
PS: If you have a credible reason to believe our software is being misused, please contact us immediately so we can take appropriate action, including disabling any accounts potentially involved in the abuse. You are welcome to publish your analysis or opinions on how our code works, including insights derived from leaked samples. We strongly value security research, even when the findings are inconvenient for us.
